While shooting in studio shooting soft light directly on the subject makes for an extremely flat image. if you want even light along your subject using a one Light setup set your main light at a 45° angle Pointed down using two Black v flats on camera right and left to bounce the light on to the subject and create depth. If you are using a two light set up. Have your main light lifted over the subject at minimum 10 feet. Point it at a 45° angle use the second light to fill-in the bottom of the subject by setting it either camera right or left and point the light up at the subject the light should be much lower thant main light at a 25 to 30° angle while using two V flats black One camera right and left.

 Using two strobe lights Full power and 4 white 10 foot Vflats to fully illuminate Model  both lights are aimed at a 45° angle hitting the  Cyc walls casting light through the first Vflats and bouncing off the two front Vflats on camera left and right.

We started with the model facing forward at a 45 to the camera which was about 2ft away from the subject. On camera left at 3ft in the air we have the Constante Light pointing down on model at a 45 as well with model looking up.

 (2016  archive ) Using the environment And what you have in order to create is such an important part of being a photographer your studio is where you make it. I Set up a small studio at a parking garage in my local neighborhood.  My lighting set up was a 5 foot up to box bouncing light off my backdrop in the soft lighting  that seeped under  The surface around us making a soft even light all the way around.
